"THE CONTINENTALE The most recent addition to the Ferragamo hotel stable is The Continentale. Here, the style is Fifties' white Formica and Pucci-pink wools, and the emphasis is on privacy, rather than people-watching. There is no restaurant at the Continentale, just a breakfast room (dinner can be ordered in from Gallery Hotel Art). There is a bar on the first floor, a movie theatre, and a quiet living room with grand views out over the Ponte Vecchio. Rooms are white with design features reminiscent of Ian Schrager's more recent hotels, especially the sheer floor-to-ceiling curtains surrounding beds and windows. But that's where the comparison ends: on service, the Continentale beats Schrager hands down."

"If brown is the color of the season, they will not change the décor in the hotel to reflect what's new in fashion or in their stores."Still, many people call the Florence hotels "the Ferragamo hotels," and Giovannelli concedes that the name could change in the future."
